Community Farming: A Model for Sustainable Agriculture

Community farming in an eco-village unites members in resource investment, shared labor, and collective harvests. This cooperative model strengthens food security, fosters ecological stewardship, and nurtures social bonds, ensuring sustainable agriculture while promoting fairness, resilience, and a deep connection with nature’s cycles.

At Greencross, we extend the concept of community farming beyond the eco-village by involving like-minded individuals and organizations from the general society. These participants contribute financial assistance while village volunteers undertake the farming process. This collaboration allows people from various walks of life to reconnect with agriculture and sustainability.

Currently, we cultivate paddy using natural farming methods, ensuring chemical-free, regenerative agricultural practices. Interested groups support the process financially, while local volunteers manage cultivation and care for the land. The final harvest is then equitably shared among all contributors, reinforcing a sense of collective responsibility and shared benefits.

Additionally, we actively promote satellite lands to transition into community farming. By encouraging external lands and farmers to adopt this model, we engage more individuals from urban and fast-paced lifestyles in the practice of cultivation. This expansion fosters a deeper societal appreciation for farming, sustainability, and food security, ultimately building a resilient and self-sufficient community.

Through these efforts, community farming becomes a means of bridging the gap between modern society and traditional agricultural wisdom, fostering a culture of cooperation, sustainability, and ecological well-being.
